The square in front of the Cathedral of the Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo has become the center of top Italian flavors and aromas. As part of the Week of Italian Cuisine in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stands were set up on the square where passers-by could try the famous delicacies.

This event is the central part of this year’s manifestation organized by the Embassy of Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the Region of Sicily, which lasts from July 6 to 9.

In addition to tasting dishes that represent the art of traditional Sicilian cuisine, part of the program was dynamic show cooking, where professional chefs from Italy prepared authentic Sicilian cannoli in front of the audience.

In addition to the passers-by who found themselves in front of the Cathedral of the Heart of Jesus, the event was attended by the Italian ambassador to BiH Sarah Eti Castellani, the British ambassador Julian Reilly, the mayor of Stari Grad Municipality Irfan Čengić, as well as the head of the European Union Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina Luigi Soreca.

Italian cuisine was recently included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity, and today’s event in the heart of Sarajevo showed why – celebrating top craftsmanship, tradition and quality.

We remind you that this year’s program started on Monday with all-day B2B business meetings in Sarajevo, in which more than 20 top companies and leading consortia of Sicilian gastronomic products are participating.

After Sarajevo and last night’s street food festival in Zenica, Italian Cuisine Week is moving to the south of the country.

The event will be officially closed today, Thursday, July 9, with a large evening street food festival in Trebinje, where visitors will be able to enjoy tastings of olive oil and traditional bakery products, Klix.ba writes.
