The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajić announced a series of bilateral activities between BiH and Serbia, as well as a joint appearance in front of key international institutions with the goal to start an economic recovery program and return of big companies in foreign markets.

Ljajić, who is the Minister for Foreign and Domestic Trade and Teleccomunications, said that he is satisfied with the first meeting with the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation of Serbia and BiH that was held in Belgrade.

“Serbia and BiH are in a similar situation, in contrast to Macedonia and Montenegro, who are also signatories to the CEFTA agreement, but they do not have the same problems and open issues that could launch with the entry of Croatia to the EU’’, said Ljajić for ‘Nezavisne Novine’.

He added that it is certain that the consequences of the economic crisis are huge for BiH and Serbia, but that there is space for the improvement of the situation.

Commenting on the agreed joint appearance in foreign markets and cooperation in the area of telecommunications, Ljajić said that the suggestion for a memorandum on cooperation should be signed in June in Sarajevo, but that he and the BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović have agreed to visit countries that could be a significant market for BiH before the signing.

He said that in the area of road transport it has been agreed to begin negotiations with the goal to have a bilateral agreement for the construction of a bridge across the Drina and border crossings.

As for rail traffic, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia said that it is necessary to have an agreement on border control.
