The Assembly of Tuzla Canton adopted today the Amendments to the Law on Social Protection, Protection of Civil War Victims and Families with Children, which will enable all mothers in the canton to receive a monthly allowance of 1,000 BAM.

More precisely, 1,000 BAM will be given to unemployed women giving birth, and those whose salary is lower will receive the difference up to the full amount.

All women who gave birth between April 1 last year and March 31 this year will receive one-time assistance, also in the amount of 1,000 BAM, regardless of the family’s income tax. The first version of the Law provided for the existence of a family census, which was abolished by the amendments adopted today.

For this purpose, the cantonal budget provides 17.1 million BAM annually.

Adopted amendments to the Law on Social Protection, Protection of Civil War Victims and Families with Children equalized the rights of mothers in Tuzla and Sarajevo Cantons.
