Russia claims Trump wouldn’t quickly resolve the War in Ukraine

Russia does not expect a quick mediation success in the war against Ukraine if Donald Trump becomes president, the Kremlin stated on Sunday.

“I don’t think there’s a magic wand. It can’t be done in a single day,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov in an interview.

Peskov was referring to previous comments by the former United States (U.S.) president and Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election, who claimed he would end the Russia-Ukraine war in one day.

Moreover, Peskov said that such a thing might be possible if “the future U.S. president announces in their inauguration speech that the U.S. is for peace and thus ends its support for Ukraine.”

“Then perhaps by the next morning, the thinking, especially in Kyiv, might change,” Peskov added.

He emphasized that this is only a hypothetical scenario, considering the extent of U.S. assistance to Ukraine.

The U.S. is deeply involved in the conflict due to its military aid to Ukraine, and relations between Moscow and Washington are at their worst in recent “decades,” Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesperson also stated that Moscow does not favor any candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
