Nostalgia for the past is a feeling that has a special charm, andyesterday the journalist team had the privilege of experiencing it, stepping into an old Bosnian house from 1925 in Sarajevo, which has been talked about a lot in recent days. It is an incredible villa in Avdage Sahinagica Street.

If you headed towards the Trebevic cable car from the direction of the City Hall, it is almost impossible not to notice one of the magnificent villas in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), which has become the “main star of the Internet” in recent days.

This imposing building is called “Double House Bicakcic-Hadzisabanovic“, but it actually consists of two residential units under one roof. One of them is currently for sale, and while it is waiting for its new owner, journalists decided to explore its interior.

Just by looking from the outside, one can notice that the villa carries the soul of the time in which it was built. It features an antique facade, carved wooden windows and authentic details, which alone are enough to make you notice it, even if you’re just passing by.

With all the rooms and, including the yard, a total of 390 square meters, this villa is intended for the complete comfort and convenience of a family.

However, it is more than those numbers. Like a museum with specimens and evidence of the former life of a Bosnian family, and at the same time woven of precious memories, journalistshave been convinced that its value is priceless.

While it is waiting for its new owner, the agency Kvart, which is in charge of selling the villa, and with whose help it was possible to take a look inside of it, they explained how the condition for the future owner is to appreciate its enormous value, but also to continue working on its preservation.

“Historic buildings are an invaluable cultural heritage that shapes the identity of our society. However, the maintenance of these old monuments faces a series of challenges that require careful planning and engagement. Some of them, faced by the owners, are of a financial and legislative nature, while the problem there may also be a lack of awareness, which can lead to the neglect or deterioration of these monuments,” explains the director of the agency, Amela Ljuhar-Hadzijahic.

She added that the owners of the villa in Avdage Sahinagica Street have offered to various institutions to buy their house, but that there has been no response from those institutions to date.

“Despite these challenges, the maintenance of historical buildings remains important for the preservation of BiH’s cultural identity and historical heritage. This effort requires cooperation between owners, experts, authorities and the community to ensure the long-term preservation of these valuable monuments for future generations,” Ljuhar Zlatan, from the Kvart nekretnine (real estate) agency, concluded, Klix.ba reports.
