Commander EUFOR, Major General Fronda, visited the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Political Science today to participate in a panel discussion on the role of EUFOR Operation Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The visit included a presentation delivered by the EUFOR Strategic Communications team, followed by an engaging and interactive panel discussion featuring Major General Fronda, Head of the Department of Security and Peace Studies Full Professor Mriza Smajić, and students from the Faculty of Political Science.

The discussion brought together students from a variety of academic backgrounds and areas of study, creating an open forum where diverse opinions, perspectives, and ideas were shared on topics relating to security, stability, international cooperation, and the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During his address, Major General Fronda thanked the faculty leadership, staff, and students for hosting the event and emphasised the importance of engaging with academic institutions and young people across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Commander highlighted that EUFOR’s mandate remains focused on supporting a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in an impartial and professional manner. He also underlined the importance of dialogue, trust, and community engagement as important elements in supporting long-term stability. Speaking during the discussion, Major General Fronda said:

“Respectful debate, tolerance, and the willingness to listen to different perspectives are essential in any democratic society. Events such as this are important because they bring people together through dialogue, encourage mutual understanding, and help build cooperation based on respect and trust.”

Today’s event formed part of EUFOR’s continued commitment to maintaining close engagement with communities, institutions, and future leaders throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
