Romania’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Anton Păcureţu, delivered a lecture at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Mostar, discussing the development of bilateral academic relations between universities in Romania and Mostar. He also shared Romania’s experiences in the EU accession process.

Păcureţu highlighted Bosnia and Herzegovina’s commitment to joining the EU, emphasizing that every country follows a unique path to membership. He noted that Romania faced similar challenges and was among the most corrupt societies in Europe before its accession.

According to the ambassador, young people and responsible political leadership are crucial for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU journey, stressing that meaningful change requires time. He pointed out that EU membership has helped keep Bosnia and Herzegovina united and cited Romania’s experience, where many who emigrated later returned after joining the EU, demonstrating the benefits of integration.

Păcureţu underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Romania, particularly among young people, and announced initiatives such as scholarships and summer camps for students at all levels.

Encouraging students to believe in their potential, he emphasized that hard work, responsibility, and a shared vision are key to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s success on the European path.

The lecture was part of the Tour d’horizon series, which features ambassadorial visits and discussions at the Faculty of Philosophy, SUM.
